It's A Lot Like Cooking
It was an honor and a pleasure to have my friend, Pamela Morgan of Flirting With Flavors. visit my studio to try out Talk And Response Art recently. I have had the privilege of cooking with Pamela in her kitchen so it was fun to reciprocate. She was drawn to the spontaneity of working with images from magazines and placing them into white gesso to create a "transfer." I explained that I had borrowed this method from one of my iconic mentors, Robert Rauschenberg. We both agreed that the process is both mesmerizing and soothing. She had a natural knack for it. As she puttered and played with color I began to realize that making art is not too far from making food. I am grateful for our time together in the studio where we conversed, created and learned from each other.
